In Your Skin

by Morgan Reed

(Written in response to ink.)

You’re shining like a perfect star just sitting in your skin
Your light glows through galaxies to which you have not yet been
You dance in your identity and you own yourself with purpose
You move through their boundaries and forget that you were nervous

You don’t listen to a single noise, the music’s in your bones
You rise until you touch a height that you have never known
You’re exquisite as you’re watching their opinions diminish
Your pride won’t shrink and they’ll praise you as you finish

You’re honest with your audience, you’re depicting what is real
You search the space inside you and project what you feel
Your passion is apparent as you’re showcasing your soul
You get lost in the motions, but you never lose control

You’re unmasking vital narratives and sharing them with grace
Your talent holds a depth that has brought you to this place
You deserve to have this moment where your creation’s wrapped in glory
You are such an inspiration, I’m glad I get to tell your story
